Biography:

Dr. Jami Scanlon’s desire to help children and work with the sciences created a clear path for the rest of her life. It was never a question for her: she was meant to become a pediatrician. After earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, she completed her residency at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York and was ready to start her journey.

Since then, Dr. Scanlon has been working as a pediatrician, helping children be the healthiest they can be. In addition to being board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Scanlon is also an active member of several medical societies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Georgia Chapter of Pediatrics.

“I really love getting to know the families,” Dr. Scanlon said when asked what she loves most about her work. “When you’re treating children, you also have the extreme privilege of watching them grow and turn into amazing people.”

One particular patient will always stick with Dr. Scanlon: an 11-year-old who was diagnosed with cancer. This patient’s incredible drive, persistent strength, and caring personality are what inspire Dr. Scanlon to work her hardest every day.

Outside of the office, Dr. Scanlon loves to run, work out, and listen to rock and pop music. Her husband, twin boys, and their rescue-dog "Bella" keep her busy otherwise.

“I would choose this job over and over again if I had too, no matter if I’m reflecting on the past or looking to the future,” Dr. Scanlon explained. “I am in the right place, and I am extremely happy.”
