Eye care includes services related to the health of the eyes and vision.
SouthCoast Health's Eye Care Department offers a comprehensive range of services to diagnose and treat visual disorders. Our ophthalmologists and optometrists are trained to provide comprehensive, integrated care from routine exams to advanced surgical care.
Our ophthalmologists have advanced training in diagnosing and treating patients who have a wide range of eye conditions and diseases by prescribing medications or performing surgical procedures.
Our optometrists are experts in diagnosing and treating patients who have a wide range of eye conditions and diseases by prescribing medications, corrective lenses, and contact lenses.
We use state-of-the-art equipment to test vision and the health of the eye while treating a broad spectrum of eye conditions including refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease. Our physicians also fit and dispense rigid gas permeable and soft contact lenses.
For patients wishing to reduce their dependency on glasses or contact lenses, our Eye Care Department specializes in advanced cataract surgery. Options include the new multi-focal intraocular lens (for distance and near vision) and toric lens (for astigmatism).
SouthCoast Health is also pleased to offer a full-service optical shop. For more information about the optical shop, click here.
